If your climate control system is working effectively, you never give it a second thought. Most people don't pay it much mind, but keeping the cabin at the right temperature requires a complicated system of mechanical, electronic, and gaseous systems working at peak performance to keep you comfortable, and each system has specific maintenance requirements for proper operation.

Inside Air Temperature

Electronically, the system might use a variety of switches and sensors to keep the inside at a specific temperature. Your only interaction with this system is just a small computer. These units usually have to be checked first, because they control the other systems required to cool or heat the inside air.

Your engine causes a compressor to move, which pushes refrigerant through a dryer and condenser to create cold air. This refrigerant also contains a small amount of lubricating oil to lubricate the moving parts of the compressor. If some of it leaks, or if it loses its “charge”, the compressor might fail. If the system has a leak, water will enter and become corrosive to all of the system components. Mechanically, the system utilizes a clutch to cycle the compressor for economical operation; sometimes it will cycle the compressor hundreds of times per hour. With this level of use, maintenance and service becomes more imperative.

Get your system inspected annually

It’s important to have your system inspected each year for leaks and effective operation. And if you suspect an issue, or if the air isn’t as cold as it used to be, come on in and let us take a look. We’ll test your system for efficient operation, and if it isn’t working as it should, we’ll be able to tell you the problem quickly and give you an estimate of repair. We’ll have you cooled off in no time!
